Warning equipment

Drivers of all multi-track vehicles are required to carry suitable safety equipment to warn of hazards (i.e. a breakdown triangle and warning triangle), as well as reflective, high-visibility clothing to ensure they can be seen by other road users. This requirement does not apply to drivers of single-track vehicles.

The high-visibility clothing must be carried in the vehicle. If you need to use it (for example, in the event of an accident or breakdown), you must put it on before you leave your vehicle. Suitable high-visibility clothing includes items such as jackets, overalls, trousers and ponchos that comply with the ÖNORM EN 471 or ÖNORM EN ISO 20471 standards.

Caution

It is an offence not to carry/wear high-visibility clothing. if you fail to wear high-visibility clothing in an accident, and if this causes injuries (e.g. due to an impact with an oncoming vehicle), your entitlement to compensation may be reduced.
