The advice centres can provide advice and support in multiple languages throughout the recognition and assessment process. The service is free of charge. You can contact the centres to find out whether qualifications you have obtained abroad have to be formally recognised in Austria, and what the procedure is for doing so.

Individuals living in Austria with professional qualifications achieved abroad.

Voraussetzungen

You must have formal qualifications you want to use to practise your profession in Austria.

Zuständige Stelle

There are four advice centres providing advice and support on the valuation and recognition of foreign professional qualifications, based in Vienna, Linz, Graz and Innsbruck respectively. Weekly surgeries are held in Austria's other provinces.

Verfahrensablauf

What do advice centres do?

  • Provide free, multi-lingual advice on the recognition of professional qualifications
  • Determine whether given qualifications can/must be recognised in Austria
  • Provide support as required throughout the recognition process
  • Obtain sworn translations of certificates, professional references and other documents
  • Forward documents to assessment centres as required
  • Provide information on opportunities for further education and training

When you come to your appointment, please bring all relevant certificates and evidence of your qualifications.

Kosten

The service is free of charge.

Rechtsgrundlagen

The advice centres qualify as offices providing advice (Beratungsstellen) within the meaning of Section 5 of the Austrian Valuation Act (Anerkennungs- und Bewertungsgesetz - AuBG).
